Asrock Dual VSTA

I have an old Asus a7n8x deluxe e board. It has been the best board that I have ever owned. I bought one for my sister when I built her machine as well and they have been rock solid for years. But time marches on and I need to upgrade my board eventually. But I have spent a lot of money on the components, like Ram and video and I don’t necessarily want to throw everything out in the upgrade.

So I found this board that takes both AGP and PCI-E as well as DDR and DDR2. From the looks of it and the reviews, the board is actually a stable board. Here’s the review at anandtech: Anandtech Review

Here’s the board at newegg:Newegg Link

It looks like I could get the board and processor for 170.00 as opposed to spending an extra 200.00 to get ram and a video card. I’ll have to make a decision eventually…..I guess…..My old board won’t last forever.

****UPDATE***** I bought the board and installed it with a celeron dual core for about 170.00 total. And the verdict is…….I like it.

It operates like a deluxe board with all of the features you would expect from one. I bought the Intel board instead of the AMD and I am glad I did…..the Intel board runs much cooler and quieter than the AMD versions.

It IS, in fact, a solid board and it appears to be stable.

I bought a 8600gt 1gb pci-e card and transferred 1gb of my pc3200 from my other system. This is a very nice board…..but I am not sure you can get it anymore…..but it is a worthy succesor to my a7n8x-deluxe-e board. Stable(so far) and fast………

btw…..it will take up to quad cores……..
